What kind of hose is fitted to the Constant Tension Automation Reels?
Written by Super User Tuesday, 09 December 2014 23:18We have a massive range of specialty constant tension reels available - these are used primarily in the transfer of hydraulic oil and power from fixed to moving points on cranes, telebooms, materials handling equipment and the like.
Each reel listed on our site is available with a particular hose type, which is noted in the product description. Below is a description of each hose type:
- SB1 - Thermoplastic with one steel braid reinforcement
- 1SN - Synthetic rubber with one steel braid reinforcement
- 2SN - Synthetic rubber with two steel braid reinforcements
- R16 - Synthetic rubber with two steel braid reinforcements
- 4SP - 4SH - Synthetic rubber with four steel braid reinforcements
- 2TE - Synthetic rubber with one polyester braid reinforcement
- I21 - Synthetic rubber with one steel braid reinforcement
- I40 - Synthetic rubber with two steel braid reinforcements
- R7, R8, CF - Thermoplastic with textile braid reinforcement
- B1 - Thermoplastic with one steel braid reinforcement
- B2, B3 - Thermoplastic or rubber with two steel braid reinforcements

What information do you need to quote on a custom made reel?
Written by System Monday, 18 March 2013 03:20To quote accurately, we need quite a bit of info from you. This can include hose size, pressures, temperatures, bend radius of the hose, reel construction materials, rewind system, what will be flowing through the reel etc. This sounds like a lot – but it enables us to quote with absolute accuracy the best reel for your unique application. Yes - we can supply 3D .stp and 2D .dxf files for use in your CAD drawing program. These are available by contacting us with the part number of the reel you require.
Note that due to the individual nature of custom made reels, these drawings may not be available immediately and may need to be created for you. Also, during the process of fabricating the reel, measurements may change by fractional amounts. Please keep this in mind and allow a little breathing room if you're designing around one of our reels.
A 12 month warranty is offered on custom made hose reels. The terms of warranty are as per our standard Terms and Conditions.
Our custom made hose reels are quoted ex Kings Park NSW - we don't generally include installation with custom hose reels, however an installation service is available by arrangement.
Please ensure all specifications are final before confirming that we can begin production. Custom orders, once placed, are irrevocable, and cannot be returned for credit or exchange.
This is obviously dependent on a lot of different factors; however an estimated delivery date will be advised at the time of ordering. For custom made reels, at least six weeks from the date of order is a fair estimate - however please refer to your quotation for a more accurate time frame.
Can I add heavy duty hose to my polypropylene hose reel?
Written by System Monday, 18 March 2013 02:40Heavy duty EPDM rubber hose is available on our AW Series air / water hose reel and is especially useful in fabrication areas where welding spatter adversely effects the hose. See part number AWHD1210 for more information. Our steel reels are supplied without hose as standard, so if you'd like us to include the hose of your choice please let us know when you enquire or order. We can source hose for almost any industrial application.
I have a manual hose reel, can I upgrade it to a motor driven version?
Written by System Monday, 18 March 2013 02:39Yes, most (but not all) manual reels can be converted to electric, hydraulic or pneumatic motor driven reels. ReCoila have a number of conversion kits available. Please call us with information on the reel you have and the type of motor you're after, and we'll let you know if they are compatible.
