Hoses are common place throughout industry, providing a practical and effective method for conveying or transferring liquids and gases. External factors found in the working environment can have an adverse effect on the hose considerably reducing its life span – factors such as extreme temperatures, humidity, sunlight, oils, solvents, surfactants, welding spatter, corrosive atmosphere or exposure to aggressive chemicals. We’d like to think we’re ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation, and not just in building hose reels. Safe Work Australia’s Principles of Safe Design is a best-practice guideline for manufacturers and designers of plant, equipment and buildings for workplaces, and has been developed with the goal of eliminating inherent hazards from the initial design stages right through a product’s life cycle to decommissioning and disposal.
